I can't believe it, but I just got 42 miles to the gallon! Just filled up this morning after 412 miles. 9.8 gallons! Haven't really done anything special recently except a new dizzy cap and rotor, so pretty shocked.

Just had to share that with people who would appreciate it. LOL

Best I ever got with my stock XR-2 was 35 mpg highway (roof up) and with my N/A was 38mpg highway (roof up).
It was VERY unusual for me to get less than 32 mpg in the XR-2 on the highway.
Awesome cars.

I the way to the MACG I was averaging less than 13mpg... AWD bpt w/ a malfunctioning TPS - I think I left a black cloud all the way from PA to Indiana!

I noticed when I changed to a larger diameter exhaust on both my original XR2's - the mileage became very dependant on driving style. I used to get 28mpg consistently around town. Highway aboot 32... with all sorts of mods though I could get 36mpg highway

42 is an accomplishment, I know the Festiva guys get really good mileage w/ a B6 swap. I'm surprised there arent more people hyper-miling the Capri.

The Super Roo pulled down an amazing average of 115 miles to the tank! If Matt is right about the larger exhaust+ driving style = milage, you can do the math on this one......

I think there was more going on there, especially with that unknown FPR -

Josh your engine isn't getting past 110 degrees - its not getting out of warm up mode! terrible for it!

I wonder how long it will take to burn through a tank on the track. An hour?  Eek.

A little less with fuel starvation - you can't use the whole tank. About 8 gallons before you have to re-fill. 45-50 minutes.

Needless to say, a 22 gallon fuel cell is on the list of things to do.

I'm damn lucky to get 200 per tank, mostly average about 160 @ sea level,  flat out driving like a madman!!! running 16 psi and around 7100 rpm's per shift, stop light to stop light.  Lucky to get 160 per tank LOL. (But lovin ever second of it), (WRX's hatin me). I think I hit 100 on a two block area...??? On a closed track and under extremely monitered conditions... (my ass)

Best I ever did with my Xr2 was 38.5 mpg. With the B6t festiva I got 47.2 on the way back from MACG....doing like 45 the whole way lol.

Yes... exhaust does have a lot to do with it. Small exhaust, more restriction, less boost, less fuel.

Driving habits make way more difference though. And top speed.

Driving habits seem to make all the difference! I've also noticed, I would get better (1-3mpg) mileage during the day, perhaps due to the headlights being down?

Best I managed to pull down was 36mpg on the way to the 2008 MACG. I could consistently get 28-32 highway, ~26ish mixed / spirited driving, but I dont think I beat on my capri as much as it sounds like some of you do, lol

Now, with AWD, mileage is a joke! 24mpg was my best this summer, im curious what it would do now that I have my TPS issue resolved

Theres all the tanks I tracked when I drove my capri. Looks like the worst I ever did was 30.1

And that was winter.
